Living the wild is an ultimate adventure as it challenges your ability to adapt to the terrain and surview with minimal resources. You will be challenged to the core of your skills and learn more on survival skills and map reading and navigation, adaptation to diverse terrains while learning about the ecosystem of a tropical rainforest while enjoying mesmerizing views of mother nature.
This is a journey that follows the footsteps of mother nature through wonderful and the cleanest air and natural water sources. The terrain is connected to the ancient beliefs and folklore which you can experience during the expedition. There is no fixed trail as such as you will navigate through the deep dense Jungle which nurtures many kinds of flowers and fruits, edible vegetables, and mushrooms as well as highly poisonous fruits, five out of six species of venomous snakes living in Sri Lanka, and poisonous spiders.
More than 60% of plants are endemic and most of them are considered as rare and the reserve is home for 50% of Sri Lanka’s endemic species of birds, mammals, and butterflies, as well as many kinds of insects, reptiles, rare amphibians and snakes. Sri Lanka is home to 830 endemic species, of which 217 trees and woody climbers are found in the low land wet zone. Of these, 139 (64%) have been recorded in these terrains including 16 rare species. A number of threatened, endangered and rare species occur within the terrain, hence it is important to protect this environment and we take all the precautions to leave only the foot print in this invaluable terrain.
